I think I like him because he seems to have normal reactions to things - if I was in his place in 38 Minutes, I'd be worried that we'd all be killed, as well as worried that John and the others would die. I mean, I know that doesn't make him a great candidate for a possibly-one-way mission to another galaxy, but still.
