Dear Yuletide Writer,

Thank you for signing up to write one of my fandoms. I can pretty much guarantee that I'll love whatever you write, so if you've got a brilliant idea that you just love and *have* to write, feel free to do it. If you're like me and find yourself staring at a blank screen really wanting to write but not knowing where to start, hopefully this will help.

Generally I love hurt/comfort, mild angst, positive endings, friendship stories, verbal humour, mild teasing, AUs, future fic, stuff set before the show started, slash/femslash, developing relationships, gen/friendship, caring and affection.

I don’t like humiliation, embarrassment, people being made to look stupid, outright humour stories, excessive violence, PWP, het.

For the specific fandoms...

1. NCIS LA:

I love Dominic's status as 'new guy who tries really hard' and the way Nate keeps an eye on him and Kensi teases them both. I'd be happy with gen, femslash or slash, but please no het (unless it's Kensi as part of a threesome). Early canon stories when they're getting to know each other are good, as are future fic where they've all settled in together. Assignment fic is good, or downtime and teasing. Preferably no or minimal angst.

What I really like about this show is how much they like and respect each other, and how obvious it is. I love their random quirks, especially Erik's surfing, and that they're all scared of Hetty (with the possible exception of Kensi). I like that Kensi seems to be the only member of the team who dates, and that they tease her about it, so a story around that would be good, or one about some of the others finding out about a relationship between two members of the team (maybe Erik and Dom did more than go to a bar at the end of (I think) the first episode?) If you don't want to write relationship fic, gen friendship would be great, and if you want to include Hetty in some way, please do, I think she's great.

2. E-Ring

Fic about either their friendship or slash fic with any two (or three) of the characters is great. I'd love something set before the show starts, when they're all still working closely together, or something that deals with how it ended. I like the three of them for the way they tease each other, but obviouly care, and for their physical affection towards each other. Please no het.

So apparently only one person signed up to write this fandom, who I know was me, so writing anything seems slightly pointless. On the other hand, I suppose you might have changed your mind when you saw your assignment and decided you will write E-Ring after all, so: I'd love something that fitted into the vaguely angsty tone of the show, especially after the end. I think it's pretty clear that JT gets thrown out of the army, so maybe something about what he ends up doing instead and how that affects his relationship with the other two. If you decide to go the pre-show route, please don't have Charlie shot, he gets shot a ridiculous number of times in the show, and like with The Unit, I love how competent they are, so I'd love something that shows that. I'd prefer that you didn't ignore Bobby's wife and children, though if you wanted to write him before he got married, that's fine.

3. The Unit

Slash,femslash or gen is fine, but please no het. I know Hector dies before Bridget appears, so au fic where he doesn't, or she comes along earlier is fine, or if you'd rather write about either one or the other to keep it in canon, that's fine too. I'd love something where they're chilling out together, not in some kind of crisis, and I really love fic about what it means to be gay in the military, if you decide to go the (fem)slash route. I love the show because all the characters are so competent, so something that touches on that would be awesome.

I'm easy on who out of these four you choose to write about - I'd love fic about any one, two or three of them, or all four. Femslash between Bridget and Kayla would be great, or gen bonding over how it feels to be one of a small number of women in the place. Something domestic with Charles and Hector - I like that they share a house, and I'm a huge fan of everyday stuff. I prefer to forget that Charles got married at the end of the show, so if you want to ignore that, please do, though I liked the character of his wife, so if you want to include her in some other capacity, or as a friend, that's fine. Anything with Charles and Bridget towards the end of the last season would be great, since he kind of disappeared from the show for most of the end run.

4. Thoughtcrimes

Gen, slash or femslash is fine, but please no het. I'd love a fic that looked at Freya's relationship with her sister, how she deals with having a secret, what she thinks about June's 'normal' life, or what June thinks about Freya's. And/or something about Freya and Brendan's friendship and how it develops, and if you could bring June into it, that would be fab

Huh, I didn't realise I was so interested in the sister dynamic till I wrote my sign-up, but apparently I am :o) Also, I know I said femslash, but please not between Freya and June. OCs are totally fine. Like I said for...The Unit, I think....I like everyday stuff - family parties, days in the office, Christmas shopping, anything like that, whether it touches on Freya's mind reading or not. I don't mind whether you have June find out about it or not (or indeed if she already has in the movie, I can't remember), but I'd prefer if you didn't have people thinking Freya and Brendan are dating - I have a huge think for male-female purely platonic friendships.


I know there's loads of stuff in the requests, so please don't feel like you have to use all of it, just pick a bit that works for you, or if you have a better idea, please write that instead. Thanks a lot for writing for me!
