1. Started my new job this week, and wow, they're so well-organised. I had an induction file, and meetings booked, and paperwork to read, and someone to tell me what other documents I needed to read... Last time I started work for a big organisation, I didn't even have a desk for the first month. I mean, I don't actually have a desk at this job, but that's because everyone hot desks, so I have, like, a share in about three desks. But it sounds like it's going to be a good job, way more interesting than the last one, so, yay!

2. Just got a stack of paperwork from them to my flat, with a note saying not to quit my old job till all the checks had gone through okay. Um, bit late to tell me that now! Also had to fill out a form for where I want the lump sum from my pension to be sent if I die in service. I'm a training coordinator. What, are they worried someone's going to come at me with a dry erase marker? I was tempted to leave it to something really random, but I caved, and left it to my parents and my sister.

3. I live in the rooftop flat of my building, which sounds oh so very much more glamorous than it actually is, but does mean I have half the roof as just mine to use as a garden, and there was a magpie in it earlier, which was very cool. Also saw a cormorant while I was walking to work the other morning - they're my second favourite bird after flamingoes, and there's a few but not a lot in my city, so I took that as a good sign.

4. [livejournal.com profile] femme_fic fic is done and back from one beta. [livejournal.com profile] thelittlebang is going to be done tonight - less than 2000 words to go, thank God. [livejournal.com profile] latentfunction, are you still willing to beta it? Then, finally, lgbt fest fics, yay. Everyone's been talking about what they're writing and I'm omg so jealous because I want to be writing mine (and also because they all sound awesome). Now, if I could just get John and Cam from the What Happens Next verse at Rodney and Jennifer's wedding out of my head, that'd be great!

5. People commenting at [livejournal.com profile] unit_command freak me out. One of the female soldiers was attempted-raped by one of the male ones in the last episode, he admitted to having done so, and escaped from the cops, and people are still trying hoping that he's the good guy and she's the bad guy, despite all evidence being to the contrary. Combine it with how much they complain when any of the female characters show up and I'd be so much better off not reading the comments there.
